Using Procion dyes, learn how to dye fabric in gradations or in a range from one color to the next. This type of dye works on fibers such as cotton, linen, rayon, and silk. After this class you will have the skills to safely dye fabric at home. Wear old clothes you wouldn't mind getting dye stains on, including shoes!

Materials: 

6 quarter yard pieces of cotton fabric, prewashed using no fabric softener. rubber gloves, dust mask, 12 food storage plastic bags (store brands often leak) Plastic container, such as a dishpan or new cat litter box, measuring spoons (forever dedicated to dyeing) 8 oz. plastic measuring cup (forever dedicated to dyeing). Bring 2 sets of fabric pieces to try both methods.
